Green Family Fair

“Green Family Fair,” is an innovative event hosted by the Jockey Club Museum of Climate Change at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), generously funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust. Under the theme “#Resist Waste While Fighting the Pandemic,” the fair features a virtual exhibition, interactive games, and upcycling workshops, all designed to engage the public in sustainable practices during these challenging times.

The Idea

In the “Green Family Fair” project, I implemented a gamification strategy to enhance user engagement and learning by packaging the entire website’s content into an interactive 3D world. Users navigate through this virtual environment with their characters, embarking on a quest to collect eco-friendly items scattered throughout the landscape. Each item, when found, is added to the user’s virtual backpack, creating a tangible sense of progress and achievement.

Collective Items

This immersive experience is designed to not only educate participants about sustainability but also to make the learning process engaging and rewarding. After successfully navigating the environment and collecting all designated items, users qualify to receive a digital souvenir, serving as a reward for their commitment to learning about environmental protection. This approach effectively marries educational content with the exciting dynamics of gaming, resulting in a deeply engaging and informative experience that encourages continued participation and learning.
